Westside Insider Head of School

There are not many times in life when something amazing happens! This week, we say goodbye to a group of parents and children who helped us forge a new path for Westside School – our first Middle School Graduates and their families.

These parents have done more than just send their children to school each day; they have been members of the Board of Trustees, generous financial supporters, visionaries auction chairs, room parents, trip chaperons, WPO leaders and more. Over the years they have made Westside School better for all of us.

These eighth grade students have set the tone for all future classes at Westside School. They have embraced their studies with curious engagement in learning; sung their hearts out on our stage; run like the wind and pounded the courts with finesse in cross country, track, basketball and volleyball; leaned in with courage and grace to challenges both in and outside of the classroom, throughout it all have supported one another in a way that has been inspirational to me and to their teachers.

The following schools are the lucky recipients of these fine students!

Seattle Preparatory School (3)

The Northwest School (3)

Seattle Lutheran (2)

Chief Sealth (2)

The Center School (2)

Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences

Bishop Blanchet

Vashon Island High School

Holy Names Academy

University Preparatory Academy

Sehome High School

Thank you Class of 2014. We wish you all of the best in high school and beyond. Come back to visit us often.

Westside Insider Middle School

Dear Middle School families,

Thank you for making this a great year! We have seen students express their learning and passions in the classroom, online, on the playing field, and on the stage. This last week culminates with our first class of graduating eighth grade students! Students will also finish up classes, spend time reflecting on the year, and have a conversation with their teachers for next year.

Please check here for the summer reading lists. Reading is something I relish doing, there are some from the list I plan to add to my stack!

You will also be receiving information this week about the new Middle School faculty members who will be joining us in the fall. I am very excited to have them join our wonderful learning community!

Please stay tuned for communication over the summer as there will be periodic updates and requests for information from Westside. Have a fantastic summer, may sunshine abound!

Westside School’s track season ended last Saturday, and the team had a great showing at the Championship meet. The fifth and sixth grade boys, and seventh grade girls all won trophies as the top teams in the meet. We had 12 individual winners and three relay champs. All competitors did their best and had lots of fun!

Thank you to all students, parents, and coaches for making this a great year!
