Last Thursday, Westside School kicked off it’s 35th Anniversary celebrations by inviting former Westside leaders to the school. From having three founders, Docia Reed, Melodie Rodgers and Claudia in our permanent home, to Westside Board Members of 15, 10, 5 years ago come together, it was truly a celebration of who we are, where we’re from, and what our future holds.

Understanding and honoring our roots feels especially important at this moment, as we are thinking about both the excellence of our program and the long-term vibrancy of the school. We look forward to continuing these celebrations in the upcoming months.

Westside School debuts the Donor Wall

In appreciation of those who generously gave to the Heading Home Capital Campaign, we are proud to announce the debut of the Donor Wall!

This installation honors the families and patrons who supported the construction of Westside School. In 2012, Westside School purchased our property (originally the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church) with the dream of reimagining the building as our permanent home. In the fall of 2015, with the visionary leadership of the Board of Trustees and the heartfelt participation of our entire community, our students and teachers walked through the doors to begin the school year in this extraordinary space. This beautiful building is the work of many, and is dedicated to all of the children who learn and grow at Westside School. Special thanks to Garreth Schuh for his time and commitment to the beautiful design.

We invite you to drop by and take a look, and you’re always welcome to a cup of coffee compliments of Caffe Umbria!

Welcome back Westside School students!

The hallways and classrooms of Westside School – our new home – were filled with laughter, joy, excitement, and just a few ‘first day’ jitters this morning! What a spectacular start to our new academic year and a historical day for Westside School – the first in our permanent home.

We look forward to a many, many more to come!

Dear Westside School families,

We are excited about our move to Westside School’s permanent home! Our administrative team will be moving phones and technology to the new campus over the next several days. In preparation for this, we have ‘gone dark.’ What this means is we will be unreachable, except by email, until Tuesday, August 18.

Westside School Summer Adventure Camp will continue to operate at the E.C. Hughes campus the remainder of the summer. If you need to reach Andrew DeLappe, please call 206.948.0056 or send him an email (andrewd@westsideschool.org.)

Sing Out Seattle will also continue to run their camp at E.C. Hughes. If you need to reach David Koch, his number is 206.423.5670 (text message is preferred between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.)

Beginning on Tuesday, our administrative team will be at the new campus working hard to prepare for the upcoming academic year. We would appreciate all forms and paperwork be mailed to the new address, and not dropped off at the new campus. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica (jessicab@westsideschool.org) or Kathy (kathyw@westsideschool.org)

Please send all mail to:

Westside School, 10404 34th Ave. SW Seattle WA 98146

We look forward to welcoming you all to the new space at our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, August 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We hope to see everyone at this special event!

Until then, continue to enjoy your summer!

Warmly,

The Westside School Team
